Book Review (of sorts): Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

TOP TEN REASONS TO LOVE

HUSH, HUSH!

#10. The dark and haunting cover of the book- this image of “falling” plays into the theme of the book both literally and figuratively, and the cover really captures both aspects so beautifully, leaving a strong impression on the reader.

#9. The seductive title of Hush, Hush is amazing. It’s almost like it’s suggestively luring you over with one finger crooked in your direction, enticing you to go ahead, open it up and just try to read one chapter at a time.

#8. With vampires, fairies and zombies being all the rage, it’s so refreshing to be immersed in a novel that exhibits such a unique and fresh take on paranormal mythology.

#7. We’re never bogged down with too much angel lore or back story to muddle through in order to get to the “good stuff”. Becca Fitzpatrick knows how to expertly weave her narrative to include all information necessary to understand the plot of the book.

#6. Vee Sky- essential to the story, she also infused the book with hilarity and provided some of the best dialogue in the book, as well as some really bad schemes.

#5. Nora Grey is the girl we all can identify with and also want to be best friends with. She’s smart, loyal, independent and oh so humorous! Nora isn't overshadowed by Patch's powerful paranormal persona, she can hold her own in this novel, making her someone you are extremely connected with.

#4. Nora may have swooned for Patch at times, but she never got so wrapped up in him that she lost her identity over him—got to love a strong heroine!

#3. The clever plot with its seductive twists and turns make the pages fly by so fast, you almost want to force yourself to read slower, just to make the fun last a little longer. Almost.

#2. The tension and the pacing of this book keep your mind working in overdrive (and up way too late when you have to work the next day!).

#1. Patch—dark, sexy and dangerous fallen angel. The kind of unpredictable bad boy we’ve all secretly dreamed about. Just one glance from him and your stomach will be doing flip flops.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Falling in love was never so easy . . .

or so deadly.

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

Becca Fitzpatrick grew up reading Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden with a flashlight under the covers. She graduated college with a degree in health, which she promptly abandoned for storytelling. When not writing, she's most likely prowling sale racks for reject shoes, running, or watching crime dramas on TV. HUSH, HUSH is her first novel.
